Dunnellon- Donald K. Shannon, 84, passed peacefully and surrounded by his family on December 2, 2016 after a brief struggle with lung cancer.

He lived a very rewarding life and traveled the world as an ambassador for the State Department. During his 26 year career with the government he lived in many countries including Taiwan, Kenya, Brazil, Egypt and Haiti.  He was also a veteran of the U.S. Army and served in Korea during the Korean War.

He was preceded in death by his brother William Shannon, and sisters Joan Rose, Mary Corey, Connie Kalmanson and Pat Dent.

He is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Suong, and two sons, Neil Shannon from Hattiesburg, MS and Kieran (Donna) Shannon from Long Island, NY.
