Frederick Michael Daly, 68, of Dunnellon passed away on Tuesday October 24, 2017 at the VA hospital in Gainesville, FL after a battle with ALS. 

Fred was born in Providence, RI on August 8, 1949. He married Patricia Edwards on August 21, 1976. He was an Army veteran and served in the Vietnam War as an aircraft mechanic. He also worked as a real estate broker and was employed by General Dynamics where he worked on nuclear submarines. Fred spent most of his career working for General Motors where he retired after 30 years. Following retirement, Fred and his family moved to Florida where he continued to work for the Marion County school board as a bus aid for the handicap for 17 years. He volunteered with the Boy Scouts and served on the Eagle Scout Board of Review.

Fred is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Patricia Edwards Daly of Dunnellon; daughter Colleen M. Daly of Dunnellon; son Michael F. Daly and his wife Rebecca of Lutz, FL; brother William Daly Sr. and his wife Judy of Lancaster, NY; sister Lori Reiff and her husband Randy of Pascoag, RI; nephews William Daly Jr., John Daly, Peter Edwards, Steven Edwards, Bryan Mackin, Adam Begnoche and nieces Melissa Palermo, Chrissy Lucier, Jennifer Direnzo, Jessica Macsata and Lianne Mackin . He is preceded in death by his mother Yvette B. Daly.

Fred will be remembered for his selflessness, work ethic, interest in military history and love for yard work, particularly if it involved a John Deere. He never hesitated to put others to work and insisted the pool and gutters were always clean. Above all, he considered his family his greatest accomplishment and was happiest when surrounded by loved ones.

A gathering of family and friends will be held from 4-7 PM on Friday, November 3, 2017, at Roberts Funeral Home, 19939 E. Pennsylvania Avenue, Dunnellon, with a prayer service at 6:30.
