Gilbert Baxter Obituary

Gilbert Baxter of Ocala, Fl passed into the Loving arms of Jesus on December 13, 2018 at 10:19 am after a short, but aggressive battle with non-Hodgkins Lymphoma.  Born March 6, 1963 in Colchester, Vermont to Clinton and Palestine Baxter, he was the youngest of 7 children.  Gilbert graduated from Colchester High School, then went on to attend Champlain College earning an Associates degree in Business.  Gil was employed by McDonald’s for 36 years.

Lifetime fan of the New York Yankees and the New York Giants, Gil loved participating in fantasy leagues with his friends and family.  Gil was a fiercely loyal, loving, and protective husband, father, brother, friend, and boss.  He enjoyed spending time on Lake Champlain with his family, boating and jet skiing.  He loved to play golf and watch movies with his children.  He was an active member of Friendship Masonic Lodge no. 53 F&AM and the Ocala Scottish Rite.  He was also a very active member of Christ the King Anglican Church, and could often be found in the kitchen cooking a meal for Wednesday nights, or Sunday evening services.  He loved cooking for his family and friends to gather together and have fellowship.

Gilbert was preceded in death by his loving parents, Clinton A. Baxter (2002) and Palestine Gilbert Baxter (1996), brother-in-law Clemente Hurteau (1996).  He is survived by wife of 13 years, Alanna Foy Baxter and daughters Alexis (12) and Cadence (11); his son Joshua (31) from his 1st marriage to Shelly (Breen) Duval; Sisters: Linda Johnston, her husband Douglas; Carol Hurteau and boyfriend Rodney Bushey; Jean Correia and Husband Dick; June Trayah and husband David; and Brothers: Thomas Baxter and wife Elaine; Joseph Baxter and wife Cindy; Father-in-Law George “Tony” Foy and Mother-in-law Susan Foy; Brother-in-law Justin Foy and wife Maria; Sister-in-Law Andrea Vincent and husband Nathan; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
