Jim was proud to serve his country in the Vietnam War from June of 1965 through April of 1969 as a Sergeant in the United States Marine Corp. After serving his country Jim than began his career in law enforcement, a career that spanned 29 years with service to the North Bay Village Police Department (1970-1973), and the Marion County Sherriff’s Department (1973-2003). Jim would take 5 years and step away from his passion of law enforcement with the Marion County Sherriff’s office to help his wife Roxanne establish her insurance practice, a successful practice that still continues to serve the Dunnellon area 33 years after its inception in 1985. Upon his return to law enforcement and after 24 years of service with the Marion County Sherriff’s Department Jim went on to retire in 2003 having earned the departments Medals of Distinction and the Medal of Valor. In retirement Jim continued his service to the law enforcement community as a Founding Member of the Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) Lodge 145, Marion County Sherriff’s Office Chapter, and a longtime member of its local Board of Directors.
