Dunnellon- Joseph B. Dolan, 87, died in the early morning hours on August 21, 2017 at his residence under the care of hospice of marion county. Joe was born in Boston, MA on August 20, 1930. He was the son to the late William T. Dolan and Catherine(Faye) Dolan. He attended St. Patrick school and high School in Watertown,MA. Following high school Joe studied at Boston College until he enlisted in the United States Air force. During Joe’s military career he served in Korea and Vietnam. He retired as a Major with the Air Force. In 1972 Joe and Dawne made their home in Dunnellon. He was a faithful parishioner of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church attending the 8:00 AM Mass on Sundays. Joe held various positions at St. John’s such as head Sacristan, Eucharistic minister and trained alter servers. He was a charter member of the Holy Name Society which is now called the Men’s Club and the Knights of Columbus Council #8510( fifty year member as a third degree knight). The amount of Volunteer work Joe and Dawne has done for St. Johns will always be remembered. We truly lost a gentle soul , but will one day be reunited in that glorious city of Heaven. “We love you and we will miss you until we meet again”. Joe leaves behind his wife of 62yrs., Dawne M. Dolan, Dunnellon; his daughters, Susan Markham, Tampa, FL and Catherine Brown,Orlando, FL; his son, Joseph B. Dolan,Jr. (Elizabeth), Limestone, TN; his grandchildren, Melissa Markham, Timothy Markham, Jessica Gianna, Aimee Snowden and Arielle Dolan; two great grandchildren, Luther and Austin and numerous of nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, August 25, 2017 at 11:00 AM at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church with burial to follow at Good Shepherd Memorial Gardens in Ocala. His calling hours will be held on Thursday, August 24, 2017 at Roberts Funeral Home from 2-4 and 6-8 PM with at wake service starting at 7PM followed by recitation of the holy rosary. Memorial contributions may be made in Joe’s memory to the Men’s Club of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church: 7525 S. US Hwy 41, Dunnellon, FL 34432.
