Mama embodied a true southern lady, never could you leave her house without being offered a hot meal or true hospitality. She had a kind word for all and never met a stranger. Welcoming new people into her life with stories of her family, spoken with the greatest pride and happiness, her door was open to all. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family, she was the matriarch of the family and cherished every last second spent with them.

She graduated from Woodfin High School in 1951, and proudly represented Asheville in 1953 as “Miss Asheville” and modeled for Belk Lindsey Company. She married the love of her life, Bill Fleming, Sr., in August of 1954 and they had 3 children. The family moved from Ocala to Dunnellon in 1968 and raised their family.
