Lyman H. O’Neill, 81, of Rainbow Springs died Monday, February 19, 2018 in the care of Legacy Hospice House in Ocala.
He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Joanne, son Kevin, and daughter Sharon and son-in-law David Cohn.
He was born to Dr. Gilbert O’Neill and Grace Balderston O’Neill in Newark, NJ, December 27, 1936. He went to Pennington Prep School, West Virginia Wesleyan, then received his Master’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Rutgers University. He served his country in the US Army, stationed in Germany. He served as Chief of Probation for Middlesex County until 1993. He lived in Edison, NJ until retiring to Florida 25 years ago.
During his busy retirement, Lyman was very active in the Kiwanis Club of Dunnellon where he served as President and Lt. Governor, Division 8.
Memorial services for Mr. O’Neill will be held at 11 AM Wednesday, February 28, 2018, at First United Methodist Church of Dunnellon. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Legacy Hospice House, Marion Senior Services, or the Kiwanis Club of Dunnellon.
