Mr. Mario Kruger, 91, of Dunnellon, passed away on Monday, July 10, 2017 at the Legacy Hospice House. A native of Switzerland and naturalized US Citizen, Mr. Kruger, his wife and child immigrated to the USA and settled in New Jersey, where the family brought up five sons. Part of the family moved to Dunnellon in 1991, coming here from Spartanburg, SC. Others followed and settled in Ocala. While in Switzerland, he served as a Corporal in the Swiss Army from 1945-1951, then worked worldwide installing and servicing automated textile printing machines as a mechanical engineer. After moving to Dunnellon, Mr. Kruger became active in the community, joining the Lions Club, playing tennis, volunteering along with his wife at Rainbow Springs State Park, and pursuing his hobby of woodworking. One year he played Santa in the annual Rainbow River Christmas Boat Parade. Mr. Kruger is survived by his wife of 64 years, Kirsten, four sons, Reto (Ray) and his wife Nancy, Henry and his wife Janet Lynn, Paul and his wife Shelley, and Jim; as well as his daughter-in-law Anne, who was married to son Edward Kruger who preceded him in death. He also is survived by 9 grandchildren; and 3 great grandchildren. Memorial services will be held at 1 PM on Saturday, July 22, 2017, at Roberts Funeral Home of Dunnellon, 19939 E. Pennsylvania Avenue, Dunnellon, FL.
