Penny Lofton

It is with great sadness that the family of Penny Lofton announces her passing after a 16 month battle with Ovarian Cancer.  Penny was born March 31, 1949 in Clermont, Florida to Ray and Martha Coon.  She resided in Clermont and Pinellas Park Florida during her childhood, graduated from Dixie Hollins High School in 1967 and then eventually moved to St. Petersburg, Florida where she met and married the love of her life James “Jimmy” Lofton.  In 1986 Jimmy and Penny packed up the family and moved to Inglis Florida and then made their way to Dunnellon in 2000 and Dunnellon is where they’ve remained.  Penny will be remembered by her loving husband Jimmy, a sister Gaile Hickman, two brothers Ron and Ken Coon, her children, Michelle Daly, Mike Lofton, Steve Lofton, Jimmy D. Lofton, George D. Lofton and Benn D. Lofton.  Penny was also a Mema and will be lovingly remembered by her grandchildren Ashley, Travis, Paige, Macy, Landon, Emily, Lauren, Wyatt, William, Audrianna and Sabin.  Penny also had two beautiful great grandchildren, Adam and Kyleigh that will also remember her.  Penny played an active role in the town of Dunnellon and helped facilitate many events including Boomtown Days, Boomtown Blast and bringing in the traveling Vietnam War Memorial Wall just to name a few during her leadership at the Dunnellon Chamber of Commerce. 

A Celebration of Life Memorial including an American Legion Military Service in memory of Penny will be held at the First United Methodist Church of Dunnellon on April 21st at 1:00 p.m.  with Pastor Eddie Fulford officiating.  The family is asking that in lieu of flowers donations can be made to Kindred Hospice Ocala, 1320 SE 25th Loop #101, Ocala FL  34471
