After a life-long struggle with brain cancer, Trevor Skaggs passed away peacefully March 24, 2018 with his family at his bedside at Hospice House in Lecanto. He was born in Gainesville, FL on February 7, 1997 and was the son of Ashlie Lynch Skaggs and the late James David Skaggs. He was predeceased by his paternal grandmother, Pam (Pansy) Burke of Tampa.
Left to cherish his memory are his mother, Ashlie Lynch Skaggs, brother, Tyler Skaggs, his maternal grandparents, William and Helen Lynch, his uncle, Travis Lynch and family, all of Dunnellon, his aunt, Mary Ann Tornwall of Astor, and his uncle, George Monrose and family of Pinellas Park.
Trevor was a 12th grade student at Dunnellon High School and was to graduate with his class, but illness prevented him from participating in the ceremony. Trevor had many friends at DHS and loved going to the football games. He was especially active at First Baptist Church where Pastors Russ Randall and Bill Stephens enabled him to take part in many activities and gave him spiritual strength throughout the struggle with his illness. Trevor was born with NF1 (neurofibromatosis), a genetic disorder. He underwent many surgeries and made many trips to the hospital during his short life.
A memorial service for Trevor will be held at 4:00 pm on Tuesday, April 3, at First Baptist Church of Dunnellon, Pastor Russ Randall officiating. The church is located at 20831 Powell Road.
