After attending Dunnellon High School, she graduated from the Florida State College for Women in 1945 with a degree in early childhood education. They moved to Pennsylvania, where she taught in local schools while husband Don attended college on the GI bill. After Don completed his education they moved to Ft. Lauderdale, FL where Don became an elementary school principal and Janet resumed her teaching career between having three children. After teaching for 34 years, she and Don retired and moved to Hiawassee, GA. Following the death of her husband, she resided in Palm Coast, FL. She is survived by the families of her sisters including her two living sisters, Frances Ulm of Dunnellon, FL and Sue Godwin of Opelika AL and their families; her children: son Richard Knapp and wife Michele; son Paul Knapp; daughter Lisa Ruble and husband Glenn; grandson Andrew Knapp and wife Deirdre and their children Ashley and Austin; grandson Cory Knapp; grandson Thomas Daniels, Jr. and wife Rebecca and their daughters Desiree and Brooke; and grandson Ryan Ruble. Her Christian faith was her moral compass which she shared by example. This was demonstrated by her willingness to selflessly sacrifice for her family which was exceeded only by her capacity to forgive. Her commitment was to education and the joy of serving others through areas of interest. Prior to the decline of her health, she enjoyed gardening.
