Harvey Carlton Markham

Harvey C. Markham, age 88, passed away this Sunday, February 4, 2018, at his home surrounded by his family and loved ones.  He was born on January 3, 1930 in Romeo, to William and Josie Markham, one of eight children.  Harvey graduated from Buck Pond Elementary School in Romeo, Dunnellon High School, was in the first graduating class of Central Florida Junior College in Ocala in 1960, and received both his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from the University of Florida.  Harvey was an educator in the public school system, and became a long time principal of Yankeetown School, retiring in 1995.  At the age of 21 he married his soulmate, and together they raised 4 children.  He is survived by his wife of nearly 67 years, Mildred, his two sons Robert, Rudolph and wife Lorie, his daughter, Barbara and husband Jerry, his seven grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandson.  He looks over us all now with his daughter Deborah from Heaven.  Harvey will be remembered as a pillar of the community and a mentor to many young people.  Funeral services will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, February 8, 2018, at Roberts Funeral Home, 19939 E. Pennsylvania Ave., Dunnellon.  Visitation will be from 5-7 PM on Wednesday at the Roberts Funeral Home of Dunnellon.   Burial will follow in Hickory Springs Cemetery in Romeo.  The family will be accepting friends at the home of Harvey following the interment.
