Dear Mary and Family,

We are saddened to hear of your loss, but know Joe is in the hands of our Lord and Savior.  He was a devoted husband and father who will be missed by all.  Mary, I know you could not have raised your wonderful children without Joe's support and help. Both of you were quite a team to raise seven wonderful, successful children.  I feel certain you will carry on giving advice and love with him in spirit.

Love and Prayers to all.

The words necessary to express one's true feelings, at a time like this, are hard to come by!  Just let me say, "The Blakewood's have lost a really close and dear personal friend".  Joe, Mary and three of their daughters visited us in Savannah, GA to enjoy the St. Patrick's Day Parade held on Saturday, March 16, 2013.  As they departed on Sunday there were the usual hugs and kisses.  I shook Joe's hand, hugged him and told him I loved him, he replied "Me To". That's the Joe Gissy that we'll keep in our hearts and memory.  Our thoughts and prayers are with the entire family and we pray God will give you all the strength to cope with this tragedy.

Dear Denise and all your family,
I am so terribly sorry for the sudden loss of your precious father.
I know you are all devastated.
I praying for you all to have peace with this loss, especially your mom.
They always looked so happy to be together and enjoy their family.
It will be a large empty space in your lives but you are so fortunate to have had such a wonderful man as your father.
I have you all in my thoughts and prayers.
God Bless and keep you all in His presence.

Dear Mary and the entire Gissy family,

Esther and I wish to express our heartfelt sympathy to you all during this time of grief following Joe's passing.  Please know that you are in our hearts and prayers.  We are blessed to have known such a wonderful man as Joe for all these years.  No one could have asked for a better neighbor than Joe Gissy.  And not just Joe, but Mary and all the Gissy family for that matter.  And not just the Gissys of Debra Street but the Gissys of Walnut Street way back when.

We love you and sincerely hope and trust that God's comfort will be upon you during this time.

Mary & family,
We were so saddened to hear of the passing of our great friend and neighbor. But we are thrilled that he and Mary came over and visited last week while at their Starke home. It seemed the window washing really left him tired and short of breath but unaware of how serious his condition was. While we have many great memories of you two and the family, that visit will always be extra special given the short time Joe had before meeting our Lord. You know we love you all as we do our own family and are praying God's strength and peace to all of you and pray that he allows you to remember all the great memories of Papa Joe through the years. This world, and Starke, Fl. in particular is a much better place because of Joe.
