Warren Dale Ellstrom, 92, of Citrus Springs, Florida passed away on January 24 at The Grove Health and Rehabilitation Center. Warren was born in McKeesport, PA, on March 22, 1925. He served in the US Army during WWII where he was wounded during the Battle of the Bulge that was fought in the Ardennes forest in Eastern Belgium, receiving the Purple Heart award. In the early 1950's Warren moved to Miami FL where he met, and ultimately married, the love of his life, Dorothy Lewis. As part of the deal, he also acquired shared responsibility of her three sons; John, Jim and Jeff Lewis. This all worked out well as he became involved with the Boy Scouts, and that included camping and boating. During the years in south Florida, Warren pursued a career that involved repairing scratches and dings in expensive furniture items to perfect condition. He called his business 'Topps for Touch Up'. Complimenting these special skills, he also developed a talent and passion for various forms of art.
After retirement, Warren and Dorothy moved to Citrus County in 2004. Regrettably, Dorothy passed in 2006, but Warren continued an active lifestyle that included membership in Citrus Watercolor society, Hands-On Woodturners and the Citrus Garden Club. Warren also volunteered with the Citrus Sheriff's office Crime Watch program. Warren is survived by his three step-sons and an extended family of nieces, nephews, grand children and great-grandchildren .
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, February 1, 2018 at 2:00 PM at Roberts Funeral Home of Dunnellon. There will be a visitation one hour prior to service time. Burial will be held on Friday at Southern Memorial Park in N. Miami, FL where he will be laid to rest next to the grave of his beloved wife Dorothy.
