Albert Groffinger, 99, of Dunnellon, FL passed away on April 30, 2013 at his residence. He was born on August 10, 1913 in Newark, New Jersey and spent his childhood in his parent’s homeland of Hungary. On his return to the U.S., he served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II and devoted his life’s work to producing vaccine for Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C./Bethesda, MD. Albert  and Anna Mae retired to Florida in 1973 where “Steady AL” followed his passion to live on the golf course.  He was an active member of the American Legion and Past Commander of Post 268, Wheaton, MD and Post 58 Dunnellon and member of Rainbow Lakes United Methodist Church.

He leaves behind his loving wife and best friend of 68 years, Anna Mae along with his nephew Richard (Audry) Kravarik of NY, nieces by marriage; Kathleen (Glen) Ritz, PA, Karen Bordt, PA, Martha Dulin, TX and was predeceased by his sister, Margaret and nephew, Donald.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 5 from 3 to 5 p.m. Funeral services on Monday, May 6 at 9:30 a.m. At Roberts Funeral Home of Dunnellon.  Interment to follow at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL.
