Alicejoyce Campbell

March 2, 1925 — October 18, 2021

Dunnellon

Alicejoyce Campbell joined her heavenly father on Monday, October 18, 2021 at The Reserve at Citrus under the care of hospice staff and family.

She was born on March 2, 1925 in Anderson, Indiana to Floyd H. DeCamp and Violet Smith DeCamp and was given the name of her mother’s favorite silent movie star.

At 16, Alice met and married a handsome young man, William S. Hearld, by age 18, she had a daughter and a husband went off to the Pacific Theatre of WWII.  She worked and sacrificed to keep their home together until William’s return.

Alice loved her family and home and was a talented cook and baker.  She was also a creative and artistic crafter and seamstress, an avid reader, flower gardener, and a very soft-hearted animal lover (hating to serve her chicken for a meal).  She went to secretarial school and was the head teller of the local bank in Anderson until she retired.  After retirement, she moved to Federal Way, Washington to be near her daughter and family.  When the move to Florida occurred, along she came and lived independently as long as her health allowed.

Alice is survived by her daughter, Joyce Martin (Patrick), stepsons, James Campbell (Connie) and Gary Campbell (Sharon), grandsons, Michael Blue (Cindy), Jonathan Blue (Maegen), Stephen Thiel (Billie) who named her “Big Red” after her red hair,  and Kyle Campbell (Teresa), seven great grandchildren, one great-great grandson, two nieces and a nephew.

Alice was preceded in death by her parents, her stepmother Rosa DeComp, her sister Marilyn Bess and her husbands William Hearld and James Campbell.

If you would like to remember Alice, donation to an animal charity of your choice or the 1st united Methodist Church of Dunnellon would be honoring her.
