Barbara-Ann Patton Ellison

It is with regret that I inform you that Barbara-Ann Patton Ellison, wife of Byron G. Ellison, passed away February 18, 2022 at her home in Morriston, FL. Barbara-Ann and Byron were married for fifty years after having been childhood friends before that for an additional fifteen years. She was the only child of the late James H. Patton, Jr. and Mary Barbara Miller, but was raised by James Patton's great aunt, Elizabeth May of Baltimore, Maryland, until Mrs. May formally adopted Barbara-Ann (and re-named her Barbara Ann May) at the age of seventeen.  Barbara-Ann entered Nursing school at age eighteen in California, gained her Registered Nurse credentials and worked at several small southern California hospitals for twenty plus years until the early 1970's.  She moved to South Florida, married Mr. Ellison and participated in raising his five children from a previous marriage. She returned to Nursing School at age sixty and obtained her Nurse Practionioner Credentials. Mr. and Mrs. Ellison moved to Levy County in August 2020.

Barbara-Ann is preceded in death by her daughter, Colleen T. Morningstar and her stepson, Richard Craig.

She leaves behind  her husband of fifty years, Byron G. Ellison; her children, Johaha K. Shroy and Tamara E. Shroy; her stepchildren, Lynn Slaughter, Vicki Todd, Thomas Ellison, and Mark Ellison; her grandchildren, Jannah Cain, Shannon Mobley, Daniel Webb, Rae Webb,  Marjory Morningstar; her step grandchildren, Rene Slaughter, Bonni Chavez, Tammi Johns, Adam Ellison, Jessica Ellison Edworthy; her great grandchildren, Chase Cain, Lincoln Mobley, Kennedy Mobley, Coraline Webb, Dean Webb, Gunner Kirkland, Jack Kirkland, Hargaden, Justin Morningstar, Edward Holtz, Mia Morningstar, Emily, Isiah and Sebastian; her step great-grandchildren, Jace Downing, Samantha Slaughter, Isiah Morningstar, Sam Chavez, Savanna Chavez-Waring, Felicity Johns, Braxton Lewis, Andrew Ellison, Trent Ellison, Tristen Edworthy, Treyce Edworthy, and Irelynne Edworthy.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, March 5, 2022 at 1:00 PM at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church: 7525 S. US Hwy 41,  Dunnellon, FL 34432, followed by a luncheon in the church hall.
