Carl V. Bruce Jr., 76, of Ocala, FL, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 27, 2017 at Munroe Regional Medical Center surrounded by his family.  He was born on April 25, 1940 in Evansville, IN to Nellie Reece Fugate Bruce and Carl Vernon Bruce, Sr. both of whom preceded him in death.   He married Marilyn Smith Bruce on July 22, 1961 in Sullivan, IN.

Carl is survived by his wife of 55 years, Marilyn, of Ocala,  his four devoted children, Jeanne Mulchi (Jim) of Harrisburg, NC, Pamela Joyner (Skeet) of Tallahassee, FL, Tom Bruce (Ellen) of Dunedin, FL and Carrie Miller (Dan) of Ocala, FL: his grandchildren, Adam Mulchi, Clayton Kuhlmeier, Cody Miller, Kristin Mulchi, Katy Kuhlmeier, Ryan Miller, Caroline Kuhlmeier, and Megan Miller.  He is also survived by his siblings Carlyn Peterson (Craig) of Aurora, CO, Cheryl Schellhase (Mike) of Canton, GA and Roy Bruce (Carolyn) of Raleigh, NC.

Carl was a graduate of Bosse High School in Evansville, IN and Indiana State University in Terre Haute, IN.  He had an early interest in TV and Radio and began his career at WTHI in Terre Haute, IN.  Carl ‘s career in TV and Radio spanned over 4 decades and he was General Manager for several television stations in Indiana, Illinois, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Mississippi, Arkansas, Kentucky, and Florida.  Carl and his wife retired to Ocala, FL in 2008 where he worked at OTOW Golf Club and was a member of Meadowbrook Church.  Carl was well known for his kind smile and gentle demeanor. He was at his happiest when supporting his grandchildrens’ various activities or at home with his wife and pets.

The Family would like to thank all of their family, neighbors, and friends who have offered such support and condolences during this time.  They would also like to extend special thanks to the caring nurses and doctors in the intensive care unit of Munroe Regional Medical Center.

A family service was held in Ocala with Carl’s sister, Carlyn Peterson, presiding.   Memorial contributions can be made to:
