Carol June Lindsey, 78, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, December 7, 2025. Born June 10, 1947, in Wilkinsburg, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late Richard Edward Poole and June E. (Frye) Poole.
Carol moved to Crystal River in 1962 to assist with her family’s restaurant and graduated from Crystal River High School in 1966. She later attended CFCC, earning her credentials as a Registered Nurse. Throughout her career, Carol worked as a surgical nurse with local surgeons, including Dr. Updike, and served at Munroe Regional Medical Center (now Advent Health), Marion Community Hospital (now HCA Florida Ocala Hospital), UF Health Shands in Gainesville, and briefly in Destin, FL. Her final role was as a Patient Health Care Advocate at Ocala Regional Medical Center before retiring at age 66.
Carol enjoyed traveling, reading, baking, sewing, needlepoint, gardening and spending every free moment at the beach. She volunteered extensively with the Scottish Rites. She lived life to the fullest and will be deeply missed by family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Richard “Rick” Poole. Survivors include her husband, Leon Lindsey; son, Matt Lindsey (Sabrina); daughter, Gwen Lindsey; and four grandchildren: Samuel, Aidan, Ian, and Cooper.
