Carolynn Jean Bowman Callaway
July 10, 1943 – June 1, 2025
We mourn the passing of our mother, grandmother and great-grandmother (Mimi) at the age of 81.
Born in 1943 in Bluefield, WV to Barney and Lucille Burnopp Bowman, she was an American Classic – a majorette who married a football player and her high school sweetheart, James Marshall Callaway at the dawn of the 1960s and raised a family of five children.
They made their home in Bluefield, VA until 1979, when they moved to Ocala, Florida.
After raising her family, volunteering and serving on several PTAs, Carolynn worked in accounting for a couple of companies, including the Six-Gun Territory theme park in the early 1980’s. She earned her Real Estate license and worked as a realtor in Ocala for over twenty years, earning the Million Dollar sales award in 1996.
Our mother left a legacy of love, caregiving and faith. Carolynn will be lovingly remembered as a caring and compassionate mother, advisor, friend, and the anchor of the family.
Carolynn is preceded in death by her granddaughter, Carrie Hammer. She is survived by her children: David, Andy (Jacqueline), Alan, Carrie Place and Benjamin (June) Callaway, her eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, all who love and will miss her dearly.
