Charlene West

Charlene West, 67, died on November 18, 2023 at West Marion Hospital in Ocala, FL. She was born into this life on March 16, 1956 in Lynn, MA. Charlene was the daughter to the late Chester and Louigia (Charadonna) Cooper. While living in Massachusetts, Charlene was a Hair Stylist, and she owned her own gym called Heavenly Body’s and when she moved to Dunnellon around the year 2002, she continued her fitness by being a personal trainer. She was a member of Riverland Baptist Church.  Charlene had a gift of music, which became her passion. She and her husband, Mark would go to different places including nursing homes to sing and entertain and whatever they made, most of the funds would go back to charity. Charlene had a big heart and she was the type of person that if you meet her, you would never forget her. Because of our human weakness we fail to reach perfection, but Charlene would continue to carry her cross and place her trust in her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ to help her and reflect in her the shining light that she protruded, even when she was sick battling her cancer. She will be greatly missed, but never forgotten as her memory will continue to live in those she touched.

She is preceded in death by her sister, Linda Griffin and her son in law, Ian Hanley.

Charlene is survived by her husband, Mark West; her daughter, Jennifer Shephard and her fiancé, Stuart and Jennifer’s father, Jack Shephard; her grandchildren, Lillian Hanley and Addalane Hanley; her special church family, Olivia and Randy Dorsey and their children, Layla, Caleb and Joshua; her dear close friends, Ryan Cormier,  Roberta Berry Oldread and Chris McCleary.

She will laid to rest at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Morriston, FL. There will be a celebration of life service at Riverland Baptist Church in Dunnellon at a later date.
