It is with profound sadness that the family of Charles Smith announces his passing. Lovingly nicknamed “Sir,” he was known for his love of the Florida Gators, a perfect old fashioned, and a good card game. Though he was born and raised in Albany, New York, Sir was a resident of Dunnellon for over 50 years. He quickly embraced the bucolic nature of this city, purchasing the local ACE Hardware store, running for City Council, and serving as mayor. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 45 years, Louise Smith, and his daughter, Teresa Strong. He is survived by his two daughters, Robin McBride (Sandy) and Jan Stout; his six grandchildren; and his seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held at 10 AM Saturday, July 6, 2024, at the First Presbyterian Church in Dunnellon.
As an expression of sympathy, the family asks for donations to be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Dunnellon.
