Charles David Pennington

Charles David Pennington, age 81, passed away on July 18, 2026, in Ocala, Florida. He was born on April 22, 1945, in Smith Grove, Kentucky.

Charles graduated from Mooresville High School in Indiana in 1963. He went on to build a dedicated career with Allison Transmission, where he retired in 2004.

Charles was a loving husband to Betty and a devoted family man whose quite strength, gentle humor, and unwavering love were felt by everyone around him. He took great pride in his family and cherished every moment spent with them.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Betty Pennington, and his sibling, Harold Pennington.

Charles is survived by his sisters, Martha Swindell and Freda Farris Bergen.

He is also survived by his five children: Charles David (Carol) Pennington of Texas; Denise (Keith) Cooper of Indianapolis, Indiana; Kimberly (Jeff) Schneider of Connersville, Indiana; Cathy (Jeff) Watkins of Westfield, Indiana; and Todd (Kim) Pennington of Indianapolis, Indiana.

Charles was blessed with 13 grandchildren: Kara (Philip) Wages, David Pennington, Jonathan Pennington, Courtney (Chris) Swift, Thomas (Brittany) Cooper, Braeden Cooper, Bri’anne Smith, Brandon Smith, Zach Watkins, Jenna (John) Phoebus, Aiden Watkins, Tabitha (Devon) Suter, and Jada (Jake) Still.

He was also deeply loved by his 18 great-grandchildren: Olivia, October, Kael, and River Wages; Noah and Bellamie Pennington; Jeremiah and Ezekeil Swift; Rory, Lettie, Nora, and Nellie Cooper; Jade Bradley, and Dallas Smith; Ila Phoebus; Teagan Suter; and Savannah Still.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, July 25, 2026, from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Rolling Greens North Clubhouse.
