Charles (Chuck) Renaud Martel

Charles (Chuck) Renaud Martel,  92, of Dowling Park, FL  died peacefully October 11, 2023 at Presbyterian Home and Retirement Community in Quitman GA. He was born October 10, 1931  in Washington D.C.to the late Renaud Tristan and Juanita Irene DeMent Martel. He was also the grandson of Charles Martel, who was the  Chief of the Catalog Division at the Library of Congress for 48 years. He attended Maryland Park High School. Went to Palm Beach Junior College.

Chuck was a loving son, husband, brother, uncle, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and a trusted friend to many. He had a great sense of humor and loved good food and adventure.

Sergeant Charles R. Martel served with honor in the United States Marines 1950-1954 in the Korean War. After his time in the Marines, he went into the computer analysis and sales field. He worked for Burroughs Corporation ,San Diego CA ,Rome GA; RCA,Palm Beach Gardens, FL; Sperry Univac, Miami FL, and the State of Florida, Tallahassee.

He is predeceased by his wife Constance Martel, sister Emma, daughter in love Anita Martel, bonus sons Craig Baxter, Don Baxter and great granddaughter Haley Gayler.

Surviving family includes his loving children and their spouses: Michelle Martel, Charles Martel, Jr. (Jenny), Thomas Martel, Andrea Griswold (Jeff), Mark Martel, bonus son Keith Baxter.

Grandchildren: Marty Gayler, Kristopher Veach, Megan Martel, Justin Martel, Jeffrey Griswold, Jesse Griswold, Janell Larson, Kevin and Kelly Baxter.

Great grandchildren: Caleb Gayler, Sol Michelle Veach, Wrenna Murrane, Caden Larson, Cameron Larson, Owen Griswold. Lanie Griswold, Trey Griswold.

A graveside funeral service will be conducted on Friday (10/20/2023) 10:00 AM, at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL., with Pastor Frank Hall,  Advent Christian Chruch, Dowling Park FL. The family suggests donations to Presbyterian Home and Retirement Community www.phgainc.org,  Advent Christian Village, www.acvillage.net ;Bethany Hospice affinityhospice.com;or Wounded Warrior woundedwarriorproject.com.
