Daniel Lee Fike, age 85, of Bronson, Florida, passed away on Sunday, March 29, 2026. Dan was born on November 21, 1940. His parents were Fred David Fike and Mary Catherine Snyder of Osceola Mills, Clearfield County, Pennsylvania. Dan was the sole survivor of his immediate family. His brothers were Fred, John Art and Charlie.
He is survived by his current wife Bonnie Bryan Fike, and was predeceased by his first wife of 53 years, Arlene Richardson. Arlene was a loving and caring person to her children and to Dan.
Dan grew up in the mountains of Pennsylvania, hunting with his big brother Fred. He attended a one room school like other children in the area. After school Dan would work his trapline and fish in the surrounding woods and small streams. Dan spent most of his time alone so much so neighbors called him “Indian.” He loved nature, and that trait lasted his whole life.
One of Dan’s precious memories was to take his children and wife, Alene, on picnics – swimming and fishing. Dan truly was a Country Man, loved the life in the country and the old time Blue Grass and “Down Home Country Music.”
He raised chickens, pigs and a goat or two, not to mention he had two green thumbs, he could grow anything!
Dan was a good hearted man and always helped those in need.
Throughout his life had many accomplishments. In Pennsylvania he worked as a farmhand, working in the hayfields, taking care of cows, driving tractors and mules for plowing. In the late 50’s Dan’s family moved to Florida, where he soon met and married his loving first wife, Arlene Richardson. Dan wore many hats during his life. He made donuts, learned how to make ceramic molds, became a truck driver in the “cane fields” of South Florida, worked as a seawall builder, became a diver and worked for a salvage company, drove 18 wheelers, block trucks, was a well driller, Handy Man, Maintenance Director of an assisted living facility, all while raising and taking care of his family.
There will be a Celebration of Dan’s life at a future date.
