Danny Wayne Souheaver

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Danny Wayne Souheaver II, who passed away at his home in Inverness, Florida, on Monday, August 10, 2026. Danny, known as Little Danny to some family and Dan to his friends and co-workers, was 56 years old.

Danny is the son of Valery Kinney (Stanley) and Dan Souheaver (Diana); proud father of Myth Pack (Chris) and Nicholas Souheaver; and stepfather to Amanda Jordan, Victoria Sargent, Brian Mortz, and Kaitlin Mortz. He was the loving brother of Traci Wood, Amy Kinney, Kelly Souheaver, and Andrea St Andre. He was also a beloved cousin, uncle, nephew, grandson, and friend to many.

Of all the things Danny was in his life, being a girl dad and boy dad was what he was most proud of. He had the gentle touch needed to brush and care for long hair, while also being able to coach t-ball and soccer. Living in a different state from his kids the last few years was difficult for him, but he cherished every opportunity to be there for the important moments in their lives. He was incredibly proud to give the father’s toast at his daughter’s wedding reception and was so happy to celebrate his son’s high school graduation last summer. His love and pride for his children were always evident.

Danny was born in Rochester, Michigan, and raised in Clarkston, where he graduated from Clarkston High School. During his high school years, he played football, wrestled, and played in the band. He braved the cold while attending classes at Northern Michigan University before heading west to California, eventually returning to Michigan to start his family.

Danny was a talented handyman who could build, install, and create just about anything. He owned his own cabinetry company before eventually moving to Florida, where he opened two restaurants—a coney restaurant followed by a family-style restaurant. In recent years, he worked as a cook at Coachs Pub and Eatery, continuing to share his love of cooking with others.

Danny enjoyed cooking both at work and at home. He made the best biscuits and gravy, brisket, chicken dumpling soup, burgers, and shepherd’s pie. He never needed to measure ingredients. It was more a pinch of this, a pour of that, a dash of these. He also had a deep love of books, especially first editions, enjoyed learning about history, and was great at trivia.

Danny was a proud supporter of his hometown teams and a devoted University of Michigan sports fan. He was especially excited to celebrate their recent national championship victory.

Danny also loved movies and enjoyed going to the theater as well as having movie nights at home. He appreciated many different genres, but had a particular fondness for superheroes and King Arthur movies, A Christmas Carol, and Blazing Saddles, which he loved.

Danny had a joyful, laid-back nature and a unique sense of humor. He was always laughing, even during tough or painful times. His loving spirit, patience, ability to teach, and thirst for knowledge touched the lives of those around him.

He will be greatly missed, but never forgotten. For some, he will be forever remembered as the sensitive little boy who, whenever someone hurt his feelings, would tell them, “You hurt my flea wings.” For others, he will be the guy who gave the best bear hugs that took your breath away.

A celebration of Danny’s life will be held at a later date.
