Dawn Elizabeth McDowell Meredith, 69, passed away on Tuesday May 27, 2025 at Life Care Center of Ocala after a long fight with dementia and cancer. Dawn was born January 5, 1956 in St. Petersburg, Florida and was the daughter of William S. McDowell and June McDowell.
Dawn was a resident of Dunnellon since 1978 when she married her beloved husband, James R. Meredith of 45 years. She graduated nursing from Inverness Vocational School and receiving her nursing certificate from Central Florida Community College in Ocala, Dawn started her career as a Licensed Practical Nurse. Starting in 1991 Dawn and James took over Citrus Auto Parts and Salvage in Hernando, FL. They owned and operated the business for 30 years.
Dawn is survived by two sisters, Lynn McDowell and Kim McDowell (Mike Hobbs), brother-in-law Keith Meredith (Luretta) all of Dunnellon. A son Michael Bartlett of Hernando, granddaughter Madalynna Maynard of Pinellas Park, a grandson Michael Bartlett Jr. of New York and a great grandson Joseph St. John of Pinellas Park, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Dawn was proceeded in death by her husband of 42 years, James Meredith; her parents William McDowell and June McDowell Arnold; and her sisters June Hudson and Gail Benjamin.
Dawn was always a beautiful person inside and out with a wonderful smile and a great sense of humor. She will be greatly missed. She enjoyed spending time with her great grandson, her pride and joy.
