Dunnellon

Donald Marshall (87) passed away on July 15th at his home in Dunnellon - a devoted family man, world traveler and proud veteran, leaves behind a legacy defined by service, curiosity and adventure. After serving 20+ years in the United States Air Force, where he was known as an aviation maintenance/munitions expert and skilled marksman, he earned the respect of his peers.  Don retired having explored the far corners of the globe - experiences that shaped his worldview and filled his family’s photo albums with stories upon stories. Following his military career, his passion led him to the defense sector where he contributed significantly at Northrop in Saudi Arabia, and later, Martin Marietta in Orlando before retiring a second time. His lifelong love of learning was reflected in both his work and hobbies, always eager to master new skills and challenges. A man of many interests, including photography and hunting, Don truly found joy on the open road, astride a motorcycle, at the helm of a boat, or in his RV traversing the country and making friends along the way. Always intertwined in all he did was his love for good food.  Cooking for friends and family brought him immense pleasure and as a result, left many satisfied tummies at countless gatherings. He relished the company of dear friends, treasuring every moment, matching wit, wisdom and humor, most notably with his dearest friends in Alamogordo, NM.

He leaves behind a loving family, brother David (Libby), two children-  Debbie (David) and Michael (Cyndee), 3 grandchildren- Adison (Tiffany), Arial and Michael and a niece, Jenna, all of whom he loved dearly. His passing leaves a void that cannot be filled, but his legacy will endure in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to share in his life’s journey.  We will forever miss his sense of adventure, curiosity, generosity, love for his family and friends, and the best bear hugs ever.
