Dorothy Ann (Everson) Shafer, 80, died on Thursday, April 28, 2016. She was born into this life on June 20, 1935 to Ann (Kelly) and Bernard Everson Amityville, Long Island, NY. She was raised in Hillsdale, NJ and also resided in Northvale, NJ. She and her husband Ralph moved to Dunnellon, FL in 1978. Dorothy was the beloved wife to Ralph Shafer for sixty five years this July. She was a devoted mother to Linda (Harold) Ettinger, El Paso, TX, Robin Shafer, Greenwood Lake, NY, Mary (Duke) Saffert, Old Tappan, NJ and Charles Shafer, West Kingston, Rhode Island; she was a loving grandmother to Michael, Daniel (Natalie) Saffert, Meaghann Shafer, Abraham and Benjamin Ettinger; she was a loving sister to Madeline Hart, Bernard (Carol)Everson, Eileen Williams and sister in law Sue Everson.

Dorothy is preceded in death by her sister, Barbara Yannucci; her brother Peter Everson and brother in law George Williams.

Dorothy loved life, always ready to help friends and family. She loved a good party, the first and last on the dance floor. She will be always loved and missed by all.

There will be a public visitation for family and friends on Saturday, April 30, 2016 from 4-8 PM with a wake service starting at 6:00 PM at Roberts Funeral Home of Dunnellon. Funeral Services will be held in New Jersey followed by burial in Spark Hill, NY. Pizzi Funeral Home in Northvale, NJ will be handling Funeral Services.
