Douglas Dean Bobbitt, 69, passed away peacefully on December 8, 2025.

Doug graduated from Forest High School in 1974. He immediately enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and completed his basic training at Paris Island South Carolina as a Lance Corporal. He was additionally awarded his units’ sharp shooter medal. Doug studied in and became a jet engine mechanic in the Marine aviation wing. He subsequently attained the rank of Gunnery Sergeant and supervised test cell units in Japan and California. Doug retired after 30 years of exemplary service to the Corps. He returned to Ocala and went to work for Champion Pest Control until his second retirement.

Doug is survived by: his younger brother, Brad Bobbitt, and spouse Sandra ; and two nephews, Justin Bobbitt of Jacksonville, and Tyler Bobbitt and spouse Kaycee of Tampa. Doug had friends too numerous to list, however; perhaps his most trusted friend was Kathy Roberts also of Ocala.

Doug’s funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, December 17, .2025 at The Florida National Cemetery, 6502 SW 102nd Ave., Bushnell Florida 32513.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Tunnel to Towers (T2T.org), in Doug's memory.
