EDNA B. MOLES RATLIFF, beloved Mother, Mother-in-Law, Grandmother and Friend passed away Tuesday, May 8, 2012 at her home in Lake Tropicana, Dunnellon, Florida. She was 101 years, 4 months and 11 days old.
Edna was born in Pitcairn, Pennsylvania on December 27, 1910 to Ora Mae Moles and Frank Bailey Moles. She spent her childhood in Wilmerding, Pennsylvania and moved to Somerset, Pennsylvania, then to Maryland before moving to Largo, Florida. In the 1970s she moved with her daughter to Dunnellon, Florida.
She is preceded in death by her husband Bruce Ratliff, her parents, and her brother William Moles as well as her beloved son Richard Chilcoat who was a Lieutenant General in the U.S. Army.
Edna is survived by her sister Gertrude (Moles) McWilliams and brother-in-law Thomas McWilliams, daughter Joanne Hess, daughter-in-law Dixie Chilcoat, grandchildren Allen Dale Hess, Michael Chilcoat, and Ashley Chilcoat. She also leaves behind two nieces, three nephews, and several cousins.
When she was younger, her hobbies included gardening, socializing and working in the restaurant business. Edna even worked at KFC as a hostess when she was 80. She was called “Granny” then and was known for her love of jewelry and bows in her hair that matched her outfit.
