Edward J. Dombrowski Jr. (81), a proud United States Marine Corps veteran and devoted family man, passed away on February 14, 2025, in Dunnellon, Florida. Born on December 29, 1943, in Chicago, Illinois, Edward lived a life marked by strength, loyalty, and deep love for his family.
Edward served his country with honor as a Marine from 1962 to 1966, including time stationed in Da Nang, Vietnam. His service instilled in him a sense of discipline and resilience that remained with him throughout his life. He carried the values of the Marine Corps—honor, courage, and commitment—into every aspect of his personal and professional life.
Above all else, Edward was a man who loved fiercely. His wife, Linda Lee Dombrowski (née Michalsen), was his middle school sweetheart and the love of his life. Though she passed away 28 years ago, Edward’s devotion to her never wavered. He adored his children and found immense joy in his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His family was the center of his world.
Edward is survived by his sons Edward John III (Kimberly) and Jason (Alexandra), as well as his daughter Kelly Caracci (Gene). He was a cherished grandfather to Edward John IV (Amy), Jacob, Jeremy (Megan), Ricky, Justin, and Leighann. His legacy continues through his great-grandchildren Brayden, Owen, and Gemma. He also leaves behind countless nieces and nephews; sisters-in-law Patricia Barzano (Joe) and Shirley Dombrowski; and his Lifelong best friend since the Fourth Grade, Larry Heydorn of Orlando, Florida and Andy Poszos since a Freshman in High School.
He was pre-deceased by his beloved wife Linda; his parents Edward John Sr. and Mabel; and his siblings Richard, Daniel, and MaryAnn.
Edward was known for being strong-willed and opinionated but also deeply caring. To know Ed was to love Ed. A friend recently wrote in tribute: "Til Valhalla Ed... Semper Fi."
A memorial gathering will be held on March 7, 2025, from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Anderson Morgan Funeral Home, located at 10300 West Grand Avenue in Franklin Park, Illinois. A burial service will take place the following day on March 8 at Fairview Memorial Park Cemetery at 900 N. Wolf Road Northlake, Illinois at 11:00 AM.
Edward’s memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew him. May he rest in peace.
