Edward Valentine Van Note

Dunnellon- Edward Valentine Van Note, 79, passed away Thursday, April 30, 2015.  He was born October 20, 1935 in Neptune, NJ to Edward B. Van Note and Catherine Dresel Van Note.  He moved to Dunnellon from Huntington, CT in 1991.  Mr. Van Note was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and served aboard ships USS Greenwich Bay and USS Cotten.  He retired from the U.S. Postal Service.  He was past President and a member of the Men’s Auxiliary to Edward W. Penno VFW Post 4864 in Citrus Springs.  He was also a friend to the Ladies Auxiliary to Edward W. Penno VFW Post 4864. He was a volunteer and VFW deputy representative at the Gainesville VA Hospital for the Veterans Affairs Voluntary Services, and a life member of the Disabled American Veterans.  Mr. Van Note was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Van Note in 2002.  He is survived by his fiancé, Jennie Parks, his brother Andrew Van Note of Beaufort, SC, sisters, Barbara Doremus of Neptune, NJ, and Maureen Carlson of Citrus Springs, FL.  A visitation will be held at Roberts Funeral Home of Dunnellon from 11am-1pm on Thursday, May 7, 2015.  A committal service will follow at Florida National Cemetery at 2:30pm with military honors.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the VFW Veterans Village, 13005 NE 135th St., Ft. McCoy, FL  32134.
