Fred Ramos

Fred Ramos, passed away surrounded by his loved ones on August 6th, 2023 after a difficult battle with brain cancer.

Fred was born June 27th, 1948 to Perfecta Benitez and Jose Ramos in Caguas, Puerto RIco. He came to Brooklyn, New York at the young age of 6 years old. After graduating from Erasmus Hall in 1966, he went on to join the United States Air Force to serve his country in the Viet Nam war .

After being discharged with Honors, he landed multiple jobs where he said he wore many hats, one of which was being an international sales man for Emergency One, where he sat with diplomats, kings and princes around the world, with his passport to prove it.  He then settled down and had four beautiful children, Cheyenne, Yasina, Yasmin and Karim Ramos. While having his little Brady bunch he still managed to get his Bachelor's degree in Business, which then helped him with pursuing his career in Customs and Border Protection.

Fred was so proud of his position in Customs. He started off at the bottom of the pillar working at the airports and shipping docks, which is where he met his widow Candy Vaz-Ramos 32 years ago. Over time not only did their love grow, but he also grew with promotions and responsibilities in his career. They then got married and had his final child Yanna Ramos, and had a bonus child that he took in as his own, Geovanna Vaz.

Fred was then promoted to Program Manager and Branch Chief of the Travel Policy Division and was transferred to headquarters in Washington, D.C. where he became a GS14, a title only few manage to obtain. He had such an effect in D.C where he was known as the God Father. He then retired and moved to Florida where so he could be close to his family in his final years.

Fred is now able to sing and dance with his parents, his best friend, and his lost son. He is watching and laughing over us. There will be a service to honor him 1 PM Saturday August 12th, at Roberts Funeral Home, 19939 E. Pennsylvania Avenue, Dunnellon, FL.. His burial and military service will be Monday August 14th at 11:30 am, at the Florida National Cemetery, in Bushnell Florida.
