Geert Atsma

Geert Atsma, 96, died on Sunday, December 2, 2018 while under hospice care in Gainesville, FL. He was born into this life on October 30, 1922 in Warffum, Netherlands. His parents were the late Jakob Atsma and Gaatsje (Atema) Atsma. He is survived by his daughter, Carla Skolburg and her husband, John of Dunnellon; his sister, Greet Krijnen of Hilversum, Netherlands; his grandson, John Skolburg of Dunnellon and many nieces and nephews in the Netherlands. He is preceded in death by his wife, Ludewina (Lois), 2005 and his sisters, Tineke and Stien. Geert moved to Florida thirty nine years ago from the Netherlands and lived in Port Richey, FL and then moved to Dunnellon in 2006. In Port Richey he was a member of Bayonet Church of God and former member of the Holland Club. Geert was a classical music and WWII buff.

His family will be receiving friends on Wednesday, December 5, 2018 from 5-7 PM at Roberts Funeral Home of Dunnellon. There will be a Graveside Funeral Service on Thursday, December 6, 2018 at 1:00 PM at Dunnellon Memorial Gardens.
