George Adolphus Stephens

George A. Stephens, age 91, was born September 26, 1925, in Inglis, Fl. and passed on September 1, 2017. He had been married to his late wife Geraldine “Gerri” (McCall) 67 years at her recent passing. He was a member of First Baptist Church  of Inglis, Florida  and served his country in the U.S. Navy in the Pacific during WW II. After the war he returned to Inglis and purchased the Rock Store in Inglis from his wife's parents renaming it Stephens Grocery. He and Gerri enjoyed serving the community and helping people. George particularly enjoyed serving on the Board of Directors of Central Florida Electric Cooperative for some 30 years and always tried to help his neighbors. He was a very well know beekeeper and loved farming.  He is survived by his son Dr. Gary Stephens (Angela) in Ocala and his four grandchildren  Sara, Noah, Sophia and Owen , brothers Martin in Ocala (Marsha), Dix in Trenton (Vivien) and Stan in Dunnellon (Gail), and numerous nieces, nephews and other beloved relatives. Funeral services will be held  at 11 AM on Saturday September 16, 2017 at First Baptist Church of Inglis, with Pastor Bobby Thompson officiating. The family will receive friends from 10 AM until service time.  Graveside services to follow at Cedars of Lebanon Cemetery north of Inglis. Arrangements are under the direction of Roberts Funeral Home, 19939 E Pennsylvania Avenue, Dunnellon, Florida .
