Obituary

Gregory Lee Schutrum Sr, AKA Greg, Pops, and Paw Paw, went home to our Lord on 18 June 2026 at Tampa General Hospital after his strong fight to beat leukemia. He was born on December 29, 1952, in Buffalo NY, and moved to Maryland at the age of 12. Following high school, he entered the US Army and served in Korea during the Vietnam War era. After his military service, he returned to Maryland, where he worked as a manager for High’s Dairy. This is where he met his future wife Judi in 1978. In 1981 Greg and Judi got married and moved to Virginia, where Greg started a 30-year career working for Vulcan Materials Company starting scale clerk, and later as an Operational Specialist. Following his retirement, Greg and Judi got into their RV and became snowbirds headed South. They eventually made Dunnellon Fl, their home.

He was a member of the American Legion Post 155 in Crystal River Fl, and St. Timothy’s Lutheran Church also in Crystal River. In Greg’s leisure time he enjoyed helping with Church functions, photography, astronomy, building Lego sets, and cheering on his beloved home teams, the forever Washington Redskins and the Washington Nationals, and whatever Judi asked him to do…

He is preceded in death by his father Victor Schutrum Jr, his mother Mary Wilson Widdowfield Schutrum, his brother Gary Schutrum, and his beloved daughter Theresa Schutrum.

Those left to cherish his memories are his wife of 45 yrs., Judith Schutrum; his sons, Gregory Lee Schutrum, Jr. and his wife Sarah, Christopher Sickmen and his wife, Annie, his sister Corinne Schutrum, and brothers Steven and Scott Schutrum. He also leaves behind his beloved grandchildren, Ashley, Summer, Lauren, Travis, Séamus, Finnegan, and Makayla. Not to be left out, his new puppy Maggie.

Memorial Services will be held at a later date, at both St. Timothy’s Lutheran Church in Crystal River Fl, and St. Peters Lutheran Church in Stafford VA.
