Starts at 10:00 am (Eastern time)
Cathren Imogene “Jean” Guest, 85, of Ocala, Florida, passed away peacefully on May 9, 2026, after an extended illness. Born in Cincinnati, Ohio, Jean was raised outside of Waynesville, Ohio, and later moved with her family to Belleview, Florida, in 1957. She went home to be with the Lord surrounded by the love of her family.
Jean was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend whose warmth, strength, and encouragement touched all who knew her. Family was always at the center of her life, and she devoted herself fully to those she loved.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents, John Richard and Ruthanna (Hagler) Kuebler, and by her beloved husband of 56 years, George W. Guest Sr., “Bill.”
She was the devoted mother of Patty Kitchens (Keith), Karen Guest (Kyle Kern), and George W. Guest Jr. She also leaves behind her sister-in-law Mary Bragg, nephew Pat Kuebler, nieces Sheila Bragg, Stephanie Webster, Britnie (AJ) and Savannah Ciccarone, and many extended family members and friends who will cherish her memory.
Jean found immense joy in her grandchildren Danielle, Samantha, Tyler, and Jared, and in her great-grandchildren Scarlett and August, who brought endless happiness to her life. A graduate of Lake Weir High School’s Class of 1959, Jean carried the values of hard work, perseverance, and kindness throughout her life. She began her career at Campbell Realty as an appraisal secretary, where she walked to the Marion County Courthouse to research deeds and comparable sales, composed reports and letters, worked with aerial photographs of Marion County, and drew plats of properties. At a time when Ocala had named streets and she knew most of them. She later worked as a legal secretary for Bill Blowers and the Clerk of the Small Claims Court before continuing her career in property management, eventually retiring from Heritage Management in 2006. Jean was a devoted member of Blessed Trinity Catholic Church since 1959, where she faithfully served for many years on the prayer team and remained active in her church community.
She was incredibly creative and talented in the art of cake decorating and sewing. Jean lovingly made beautiful gowns, dresses, and costumes for her family and friends and especially enjoyed quilting. If she saw something she admired, she would often say, “I can make that,” and she usually did. Jean will be remembered for her loving heart, creative spirit, unwavering faith, and deep devotion to her family. Her legacy lives on in the many lives she touched with her generosity, wisdom, and love.
A service will be held on Saturday, May 30, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Blessed Trinity Catholic Church, located at 5 SE 17th Street, Ocala, Florida 34471. Interment will follow the service.
