Rainbow Springs- John “Jack” P. Barbour Jr., 70, beloved husband of Carol and loving friend to all died on Thursday, June 6, 2013 at Monroe Regional Medical Center in Ocala, FL. He just celebrated his birthday last month on May 18. Jack was born in Paterson, New Jersey to the late John P. Barbour, Sr. and Mildred (McCoy) Barbour.
Jack grew up in Clifton, New Jersey and was a high school graduate of Don Bosco Technical in Paterson, NJ where he was on the basketball team. He retired from Nabisco Company after thirty eight years and moved to Rainbow Springs in 2002. Jack was a member of the Rainbow Springs Golf and Country Club and the Citrus County Horseshoe Club. He enjoyed playing golf , horseshoe occasionaly and spending time with his wife and their friends.
He was a US Army veteran and was an organ donor.
Besides his wife Carol he is survived by his brothers, Tim (Phyllis) Barbour, Wayne, NJ and Christopher Barbour, Allamuchy, NJ; his sister, Patricia (Ray) Klechkowski, The Villages, FL; six nieces and nephews.
There will be a Public Viewing of Jack on Monday, June 10, 2013 from 5-8 PM at Roberts Funeral Home of Dunnellon with a wake service to start at 7:00 PM.
His family prefers in lieu of flowers memorial contributions to be made to St. Judes Children’s Research Hospital Attn:Tribute Program: P.O. Box 1000 Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38101 or the charity of your choice.
