James Robert Kilby (84) died at The Masonic Home of Florida on April 27, 2014.
He was born in Washington, DC and grew up in the Arlington, VA area.
He recently moved to St Petersburg from Dunnellon, FL
Jim was a graduate of VPI, Virginia Tech of Blacksburg, VA. He was employed by Martin Marietta in Orlando, FL and Blair Co of Warren, PA where he was also head of the Paramedic unit.
Jim was an avid hunter and fisherman and after he retired to Florida he discovered he was, as he would often say “a world famous woodcarver.” He taught many men and women the art of woodcarving.
Jim served his country in the United States Marine Corps and was Past Master of Friendship Lodge No 53 F. & A M in Friendship, FL.
He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Winifred “Winnie”, his son Dan Kilby of Leesburg, FL, daughter Pam Boney of Beaufort, NC, granddaughter Amber Woody and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Hulon and Louise Kilby, and brother William.
Memorial services will be held in the Masonic Home Chapel in St Petersburg FL
