James “Jim” R. Hicklin, 92, died in the evening hours on Thursday, February 13, 2025 at his residence in Dunnellon. He was born into this life on May 31, 1932 in Independence, MO and was the son to the late Teona and Esther Hicklin. Jim enlisted with the United States Marine Corps on January 7, 1952 and served until January 6, 1956. While in the military he became a Drill Instructor and obtained the rank as Sergeant. Following his military service, Jim enrolled in college and started working for the Insurance industry, which led him to further his education to become a lawyer. Jim was living in Mississippi when he attended law school and graduated Cum Laude of his class. He continued to work practicing Insurance Law for several different Insurance Companies, which led him to meet his wife, Charlene, while working for an insurance company in Illinois. In 2001, Jim and Charlene moved to Dunnellon and made their home in Rainbow Springs. He and Charlene became parishioners of Hope Evangelical Lutheran Church in Citrus Springs. In his leisure time, Jim enjoyed golfing and was an avid reader. He will be greatly missed by all of his family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his stepson, Michael Clementsen; his half brother, Jere Hicklin, his half sister, Marian and his sister Tona Landes.
He leaves behind his wife of forty two years, Charlene Hicklin, Dunnellon; his son Tony Hicklin, FL, and stepson, Edward Clementsen, IL; his grandchildren, Jacqline and Gabriell Clementsen.
There will be a public viewing starting at 9AM until 9:30 on Wednesday, February 19, 2025 at Roberts Funeral Home in Dunnellon. A procession will form at the funeral home to go to Florida National Cemetery for a committal service with military honors starting at 11:30 AM.
