Dunnellon

James "Jim" Satterwhite, age 86, of Dunnellon, FL, passed away Wednesday, January 20, 2021.  Jim is survived by his wife Dorothy Bell (Ms. Dot), daughter Vicki Jean, and son, Kenneth Doyle.  Jim was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Dunnellon.

Jim was raised in Tupelo, Mississippi with his siblings, David, Earl, and Bessie.  He told many a story of them picking cotton and doing farm chores in the hot son under the direction of his parents, Doyle and Hazel.  Jim was a veteran of the Marines and lived in Miami, Florida for 30 years.  He worked at Miami International Airport with National Airlines then with PanAm Airlines.

Jim had many hobbies.  He was an avid horticulturalist and became a master gardener.  He loved farming and his many animals.  Jim was a coin collector, you could always count on him to know the value of a coin and which special designs were being newly minted.  Jim also enjoyed hunting and fishing – always making time to share these experiences with his son.

Funeral services for Jim will be held at 2 PM on Tuesday, January 26, 2021, at First Baptist Church, 20831 Powell Road, Dunnellon, with Pastor Russ Randall officiating.  He will be laid to rest at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, Florida.  Arrangements are being handled by Roberts Funeral Home of Dunnellon.
