James Slagle, 82, of Dunnellon, Florida passed away on November 21, 2014. James and his late wife Lora (1935-2013) were married for 60 years and were owners of Slagle Used Cars in Dunnellon from 1968 to 2007. James was past President of the Dunnellon Chamber of Commerce and was very active in the Dunnellon business community throughout his career. He served 2 years of active military duty in the Korean War for the United States Army and 4 years in the US Army Reserves. Born in Marshall, North Carolina on December 12, 1931, James is survived by his sons: Kenneth Slagle, of Dunnellon; Jerry Slagle, Southlake, Texas, and Mark Slagle of Ocala, FL. James was an avid golfer and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, Taylor, Brandon, Mitchell, Marshall, Madison, and Yolanda, and will be missed by his sister Ruth Willoughby of Birmingham, Alabama, brother Carter Slagle of Dunnellon, Florida, and numerous nieces, nephews, in-laws, and friends.

Visitation will be held on Friday, November 28, 2014 from 10-11:00 AM followed by services at 11:00 AM at Roberts Funeral Home of Dunnellon with Reverend Lewis Childers of Marion County Hospice officiating. Burial will take place following services at 1:30 P.M. at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL with full military honors.
