Janet M .S. Egan

Janet M. S. Egan, 88, passed away on June 20, 2025, at Hospice of Marion County in Ocala, Florida, following a brief illness.  She was the widow of John J. Egan.  The couple had been married more than 54 years at the time of his death in 2013.  The daughter of the late Lilias Duncan Kesting and Bernhard N. M. Kesting, she was born in Orange, New Jersey, and raised in Bloomfield, New Jersey, graduating from Bloomfield High School.  She went on to graduate from Katherine Gibbs Secretarial School in Montclair, New Jersey, and subsequently worked as an Executive Secretary for R.C.A. in Harrison, New Jersey.  In 1979, Mrs. Egan relocated with her husband and children to Longwood, Florida, and ultimately retired to Dunnellon, Florida, in 1997.  She was an active member of Dunnellon Presbyterian Church for more than 25 years, having served as Chairperson of the Christian Community Action Committee, Moderator of the Presbyterian Women's Group, and a Deacon.  Mrs. Egan is survived by her daughter, Melissa; her son and daughter-in-law, Peter and Christie, and their daughters, Grace and Lily Kate; her brother Walter Kesting; her brother and sister-in-law, Peter and Janice Kesting; several nephews and a niece; several great nephews and nieces; and many cousins. A Memorial Service conducted by Rev. Jeffrey W. Welch will be held at Dunnellon Presbyterian Church on July 26, 2025, at 2:00 p.m.  She will be inurned beside her late husband at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida, at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial gifts be made to Dunnellon Presbyterian Church.  Memorial gifts by check may be sent to P.O.
