Jean Marie Daniele

May 27, 1928 — February 20, 2015

Jean Marie Daniele, age 86, passed away on February 20, 2015 in Dunnellon, Florida.  She was born on May 27, 1928 in Springfield, Massachusetts to John A. and Anastacia (Veideman) Hegarty.  She spent her early years in Wilbraham, Massachusetts, attending a one room school house for the first six years of her education.  The family moved to West Springfield, Massachusetts, and she continued her education at West Springfield Junior and Senior High School, graduating in 1946.  She later attended Western New England College and American International College, majoring in accounting.
After marrying her beloved husband Joseph, Jean resided in East Longmeadow, where the couple raised their three daughters.  Along with Betty Doyle, she was instrumental in establishing equal education rights for physically challenged students of the greater Springfield and Chicopee area.  She introduced her husband to a love of Early American and colonial styles and encouraged his writing of several books on furnishings, miniatures, and clocks.  As his tireless assistant, best supporter and first editor, he considered her a co-author, lovingly dedicating each book to her.  For many years, Jean was employed as office manager for New England facility of Clearfield Cheese of Pennsylvania until the branch closed.  She then became office manager for the Lindberg Division of General Signal Corporation until her retirement in 1989.
After retirement, she divided her time between homes in Rainbow Springs of Dunnellon, Florida and Lake Bomoseen in Castletown, Vermont.  An avid golfer, she was a member of the Rainbow Springs Country Club and also enjoyed gardening, knitting and reading.  Her grandchildren fondly remember summer afternoons swimming at the lake, playing cards on the porch and a steady supply of Hoodsie cups and cookies.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Francis, a sister Jacqueline, a daughter Lanore and a granddaughter Meghan.  She is survived by her loving husband of 67 years, a brother John of Stafford Springs, Connecticut, a daughter Daria Durling of Dummerston, Vermont, a daughter Sharon Kida of Chester, Massachusetts, two grandsons, Michael Deshais and Matthew Deshais, both of Ludlow, Vermont, a granddaughter Bozena Oliver of Kansas City, Missouri, and the apple of her eye, great granddaughter Molly Durling of Dummerston, Vermont.  In respect to her request, there will be no memorial service in Florida.  A memorial mass will be held at St. Mary’s Church in Hampden, Massachusetts at a later date.  Arrangements made by Roberts Funeral Home of Dunnellon, Florida and Hafey’s Funeral Home of Springfield, Massachusetts, with burial at a later date at St. Mary’s cemetery in Hampden, Massachusetts.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Marion County.
