Charles Jeffrey “Jeff” Lackey, 60, of Ocala, passed away on August 22, 2022. Jeff was born on February 7th, 1962, in Greensboro, NC. He proudly served in both the U.S. Navy, and later the Florida Army National Guard, from which he retired in 2015. Jeff is survived by: his loving wife of 30 years, Michele; his brother Scott Lackey; adult children Tiffany Tivey, Zach Lackey, Lauren (Lackey) Peterson, and Joshua “Josh” Lackey; his three grandchildren Madelyn, Colton, and Wesson Lackey; daughter-in-law Brooke and son-in-law Kip. He is preceded in death by his parents Dorothy (Short) Lackey and Charles Jerry Lackey.
During his life, Jeff had a passion for sports and the outdoors, especially fishing and golf. Some of his most treasured activities were spending quality time on the beach with his family and cooking on the grill for them. He will always be remembered as a hard-working husband and father who provided for his family, as well as a “Papa” to his grandchildren. Jeff was loved and valued immensely by his family. His family and friends will miss him beyond measure.
A memorial service will be held at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL, on September 2nd at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers and if desired, memorial contributions can be made to either the Wounded Warrior Project www.woundedwarriorproject.org or the Make A Wish Foundation www.wish.org, which are both charities that Jeff supported during his lifetime.
