Jesse Mercer Watson Sr., 85, of Dunnellon, FL passed away Tuesday, November 6th, 2012 at his home surrounded by his family. Preceded in death by his wife, Essie Watson, he leaves behind 2 sons, Ron Schade & Jesse Watson Jr. and 3 daughters, Carol Hughes, Debra Kidney, & Gail McGee as well as 14 grandchildren & 14 great grandchildren.

Jesse was born on April 18, 1927 to Thomas & Alberta Watson in Montbrook, FL and grew up in Tampa, FL. He proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War. Later Jesse moved to Citrus Co. where he was employed by Florida Power Corp. as a lineman, then later at the Old Inglis Power Plant and Crystal River Power Plant Units 1 & 2 as a certified welder until he retired in 1976.

Jesse was an ornery, flirty, mischief-making, prankster, as well as an avid outdoorsman; he loved spending time with his family, especially grandkids, on the water fishing and in the woods hunting. He enjoyed having fish fries/cookouts and strumming his guitar while singing with family & friends. Jesse loved his family and referred to his grandkids as his favorite part of life.

Services to honor and celebrate Jesse’s life will be held under the direction of Roberts Funeral Home in Dunnellon. Family will be receiving friends on Sunday evening November 11th from 6-8pm with a memorial service to be held on Monday, November 12th at 11am with Pastor Rick Hooper officiating. Place of internment immediately following at Orange Hill Cemetery, Williston, FL.
