Joe A. Frazer, age 79, passed away after a brief illness on February 3, in the loving care of his wife BeverlyFrazer, brother Bob Frazer, at Legacy Hospice in Ocala, Florida.
Born in Minneapolis, Minnesota he spent his entire work career as a newspaper executive, retiring from Gannet Newspapers in Chicago,Illinois in 1990 and moving to Dunnellon, Florida.
Joe was an avid golfer, a licensed pilot, and an accomplished pianist.
Joe was a passionate fan of Tiger Woods, Michelle Wie, and the Denver Broncos. He was an avid reader, master wordsmith, and enjoyed debating sports, politics, and current events with his many friends in Dunnellon and across the country. Few could master his ability to recall obscure statistics, especially those related to golfers past and present.
He is survived by his wife of 23 years Beverly Frazer, a son David Frazer in Phoenix, Arizona, a daughter, Peggy Fairley of Chicago,Illinois granddaughter Dru, and his brother Bob Frazer of Tellico Village, Tennessee.
A celebration of his life will be held in the memorial chapel of Roberts Funeral Home Dunnellon, Florida, at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, February 10, 2012.
Donations to the Legacy Hospice may be made in lieu of flowers.
