Dunnellon

John W. Faunce II, 80, passed away on August 29, 2024. He was born on July 10, 1944, in Cadillac, Michigan, to John W. Faunce and Frances W. Faunce. At the age of 8, John moved with his family to Ocala, Florida. Later, they relocated to Orlando, where he graduated from Colonial High School in 1962.

That same year, John enlisted in the U.S. Navy, where he served as a Gunner’s Mate during the Vietnam War. He completed his military service in July 1966 and pursued further education at Central Florida Community College in Ocala. It was there that he met his future wife, Sherrie Hunt. The two were married for 57 years.

John was preceded in death by his father, John W. Faunce, and his mother, Frances Yeaple. He is survived by his wife, Sherrie; his sons, John W. Faunce III and Brandon Shane Faunce; his daughter-in-law, Amanda; and his cherished grandchildren, Abigail and Aiden. He is also survived by his sister, Sara Crampton; brother-in-law, Scott Hunt, and his wife, Liz; brother-in-law, Kelly Hunt, and his wife, Robin, along with many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

In 1972, John earned his private pilot's license, a passion that would remain with him throughout his life. He was a dedicated real estate broker, but his pride and joy was the family farm, where he personally completed all the site work before having their home built. John’s passion for aviation extended to the farm, where he constructed a runway, built a Piper Cub, and restored many other planes. Known for his incredible ability to fix almost anything, he spent his most recent years restoring guitars, adding to his legacy of craftsmanship and resourcefulness.

John will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
