John Albert "Al" Howarth, 83, died on January 7, 2024 at Superior Residence in Lecanto, FL. He was born into this life on November 29, 1940 in Philadelphia, PA. He was the son to the late Dr. John Howarth and Elmina (Carmen) Howarth. John was a Master Gunnery Sergeant and proudly served our country 28 years with the United States Marine Corps from 1958 to 1986, including service in the Vietnam War. His dedication and commitment to his military career exemplified his character.
He moved to Citrus Springs in 2004 from Manteo, North Carolina.
Al volunteered for many organizations including Habitat for Humanity, Fire Dept., Citrus Memorial Hospital, and Nature Coast Disaster Relief. He was also a member of the Marine Corps Cryptological Association.
John is preceded in death by his wife Roberta Howarth.
His ability to make people laugh with his quick wit and sense of humor will be deeply missed.
Services will be at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL January 19, 2024 at 10:30 am.
